Lancaster University is offering a range of FREE summer schools for AS students interested in Medicine, Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Science and Technology. In addition, some summer schools enable students to pick a more specialist area to focus on, for example a particular science subject.
These summer schools are relatively short, just four days long, but allow students to find out more about their chosen subject, develop key skills, discuss with admissions tutors, find out about the university and take part in social activities. In addition, summer schools are a great way to demonstrate your passion for your subject in your UCAS application.
The summer schools take place on the following dates:
Medicine: 17th – 21st April
Biomedicine and Biochemistry: 4th – 8th July
Science and Technology (note: broken down further into different subject strands): 24th – 28th July
Applicants must be expecting a minimum of ABB in their A levels (some summer schools also have specific subject requirements) and meet one of the following widening participation criteria:
- Neither of my parents went to university straight from school/college
- I have a disability which I feel might limit my options for University
- I am cared for by someone other than my parents or am a care leaver
- I have ‘free school meals’ at school or college; a daily lunch that my family do not pay for
- I receive the 16-19 Bursary (was EMA)
- I am a carer or parent
The deadline for most of the summer schools is the 31st May. More information and the application form can be found on their website.
